This is one of those rare indoor posts. A couple of months ago I was visiting Inverallochy School and found that the hive of activity has continued inside as well as out. One of their projects has been the dining room and it has to be one of the most beautiful makeovers I’ve seen. Words don’t do this work justice… so enjoy the photos…

The project began by painting the dining rooms with waves and shades of blue. That in itself was striking. But with lots of creative children and staff, this was was simply the end of the beginning…

The attention to detail has been fabulous. Look below in the top corner resting on the cupboard…

A piece of naturally decorated driftwood sitting there…

Shell mosaics are also present…

The overall effect when you walk into the canteen is great. There is so much to look at and talk about. Great for conversations over a lunch.

The younger children had an input…

With more detailed work from older classes…

The knitted sea creatures at the windows were a good quirky touch. If I remember correctly, parents and friends of the school helped out too. I think it was friends of the school who helped make these…

There are several sets of hanging signs. Can you guess what they are about?

They are the names of local fishing boats! What a connection to the community…

There’s images of the beach and the activities that happen there…

Birds hang from the ceiling…

Shoals of fish can be seen across one wall…

Depicting some very detailed work when you look closer…

All-in-all the effect is stunning. Fish and chips for lunch anyone?

Inverallochy was the school which experimented with art work on their fences. Have a look here and here at their activity outside.
