Water Play with a Tarp

Once again I’m impressed at the ingenuity and ideas that participants on courses come up with. We were playing with materials to develop possibilities for water play and look what one group ended up doing…

First you take a tarp and stretch it out wide and taut…

Next you tip a bucket of water onto the tarp…

The game is to keep it on the tarp…

It’s like watching an animal move around… the water takes on a form of its own…

And of course, you will get VERY wet if it runs off the tarp and all over you!

I reckon most children and adults of all ages would enjoy this game! Waterproofs or a very hot day required! The tarp can also be attached on one side to a fence for an interesting variation. And think how amazing this activity would look if you were lying underneath a transparent tarp?

What else would you do with tarp and water?

(Thanks to staff at Flowerpots Childcare for this idea.)

Juliet, I think this is such a neat idea! I can imagine it would be rather fascinating to watch the water wobble and swirl around the tarp. We have several tarps here. We’ll definitely be doing this next Spring! I’ve featured your post as my favourite link-up in last week’s Outdoor Play party. 🙂
